| MOBILE PHONE IN KOTBHALWAL JAIL | | HOME DEPARTMENT TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE GUILTY | |
Jammu, Dec 6 Deputy Commissioner Jammu Hridesh Kumar Singh will soon be submitting an independent inquiry report ordered by the Financial Commissioner Home BR Kundal to probe charges of smuggling of mobile phones and SIM cards inside the highly fortified Kot Bhalwal Central jail premises. Sources in the Home department said, Financial Commissioner is still waiting for two inquiry reports of CID and Deputy Commissioner Jammu before taking conclusive action against those responsible for breach of security. Meanwhile, inquiry conducted by DIG Prisons Shabizada Rafiq has already submitted its report reportedly indicting jail authorities and staff for negligence. A senior officer in the Home department said that the state government was keen to set the house in order following directions from the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to set the record straight and fixing responsibility of those responsible for breach of security. It may be mentioned that the home department was also looking in to inquiry reports of 1999 Kot bhalwal jailbreak incident and is likely to take action against the guilty. The three inquiries were ordered by the Home Commissioner after jail authorities seized mobile phone and SIM cards inOctober 2006 being put to use by hardened criminals ad foreign and local militants to stay in touch with their cadre outside the jail so that they can execute their plans. Sources said Deputy Commissioner is busy compiling the report and is likely to submit the same within a short period. On the other hand CID authorities are still interrogating jail authorities and others to complete their inquiry report and are expected to submit their report in the near future too. |
