Double title for Jammu boys in inter-district handball | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 24: Winning both the under-19 and under-17 finals, Jammu district boys made it a double title in the two-day inter-district divisional level handball tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at District Police Lines, ground, here today. In the under-19 final, Jammu district boys could not find any difficult in taking away the title beating district Doda 17-02. Pankaj, Puneet, Jaspreet and Happy as also Vishal were the main contributors to the winning team’s scorecard. From Doda, Varun scored both the goals. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Jammu defeated district Udhampur in another one-sided contest 18-01 while Doda outplayed Kathua 8-4. Babber, Tousif and Hakim scored for winners Doda while Palak and Mohit were main contributors from Kathua. To make it a double title win, Jammu trounced Udhampur 18-16 in a closely contested final 18-16. Yogesh and Puneet were main scorers from winners Jammu while Nitin and Akhil defended well from Udhampur. In the meantime, the under-14 trophy went to district Doda beating Udhampur 8-2. Qasim and Tamasal played well from Doda while Karun fought well from Udhampur. In the final, Superintendent of Police, R K Bhat was special guest, who was introduced with the finalist teams. Meanwhile, the girls inter-district divisional level handball tournament in all age groups shall take place at the same venue from September 26.
