Dept of Fisheries conducts training prog on “Intensive Aquaculture” | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 24:The Department of Fisheries has conducted ten day long training programme on "Intensive Aquaculture" at Regional Fish Farmers Development Agency, RFFDA, Ghou Manhasan, Jammu with the assistance from National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB). About 100 farmers from all the districts of Jammu Division attended the training programme. The training programme was conducted in two groups, the first group attended the programme from 13th -17th September wherein about 50 trainees from Jammu, Kathua and Samba district participated and the 2nd group attended the programme from 20th-24th September wherein about 50 trainees from other districts of Jammu division participated. During the training programme the fish farmers were made aware about the benefits and importance of fish culture. The trainees were acquainted with the latest and innovative techniques of fish farming to enhance the fish production. Besides special lectures by experts on site selection, pond preparation, farm management, fish diseases, integrated fish farming etc, the farmers were also made aware of the simple, economical and easy to operate portable FRP plastic carp hatchery to produce the quality fish seed at their own farms. The practical session comprised of water quality management, fish identification, plankton analysis, fish seed transport methods etc. A one day tour programme was also organized for the trainees to interact them with progressive fish farmers.
