PK expresses surprise over treatment to PoK former PM | | | Early times report JAMMU, Sept 24: Panun Kashmir has expressed surprise over the red carpet welcome given to the former President of Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) by the state government recently. Addressing a press conference, PK president Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said that the manner in which the government facilitated Barrister Sultan Mehmood to articulate pro-Pakistan sentiments on the Indian soil in Kashmir during his recent visit, has exposed the rulers of the state.
“His statement about the UN resolutions is politically atrocious and uncalled for and smacks of the misuse of hospitality. The visitor from ‘Pakistan occupied part of Jammu and Kashmir’ could not hide his glee at the level of development in the Indian part of Kashmir and still had the cheek to talk about the so-called human rights violations in Kashmir”, he said.
Chrungoo said that the government also needs to explain as to why and under what circumstances Radha Kumar met Mehmood at a crucial time when the interlocutors were supposedly ‘finalizing’ their report.
“Ever since the Fai exposé, the complete mandate of the so-called interlocutors has become vitiated. The proposed report has already come under cloud even before it has been presented”, PK claims.
Chrungoo said that the level of credibility of the whole exercise of the report-making has gone down in the eyes of the right thinking members of the society.
Speaking on the occasion, national spokesperson Virender Raina, said that in view of the present conditions, the relief measures that the government intends to take for the displaced community need to be disbursed to them immediately so as to ameliorate some of the sufferings.
He said that the govt. is yet to compensate the displaced community for the losses they have suffered because of the mass exodus and this needs to be done in the earnest. Relief and resettlement are separate issues and cannot be linked together.
Others who were present on the occasion included, Sameer Bhat, convener-PK youth wing and Amit Kaul, Coordinator-Youth convention.
