| Basantgarh Half Marathon envisages Peace and Green Mission | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, September 25: A group of long distance runners in remote Dudu Basantgarh sunday achieved a rare distinction by taking the lead in organizing yet another event reflecting the resolve towards peaceful and green Jammu & Kashmir through first of its kind Basantgarh Half Marathon.The event was organized by Basantgarh Sports Federation under the leadership of President Amit Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dudu Basantgarh.
After learning about the marathon people from all walks of life, especially children and youth in large numbers had started gathering at Helipad area of Basantgarh to participate in this maiden Half Marathon.
The event began with the flagging off the same by SDM Amit Sharma at 7 am in which public ran for peace, tranquillity apart from spreading the message of green and eco-friendliness which culminated at 10 am after a round trip to Gothla area of the Sub Division.
It is worthwhile to mention here that lot of similar sports and cultural events and rallies have been organized in Dudu Basantgarh in last two years in the form of Peace-n-Green Environment Friendly Rallies, Cricket, Wrestling, Volleyball and Table Tennis Tournaments, Sports-cum-Cultural Meets, Paigaam-e-Aman Mushiara, Iftar and Ramlila events and many other such initiatives which has given a unique identity of Dudu Basantgarh Sub Division in leading from the front for symbolizing a strong will towards overall growth and prosperity.
The prizes alongwith Merit Certificates were distributed amongst the winners by SDM Amit Sharma in the presence of prominent citizens of Sub Division who applauded the role of recently formed Basantgarh Sports Federation for organizing this challenging event successfully in a short span of time. The public alongwith Sub Divisional Administration pledged once again envisaged the peace and green mission for ushering a new era of prosperity and development in Jammu & Kashmir state. At this moment, Amit Sharma who is also leading this Federation re-assured the huge gamut of public that many such novel events are lined up to be organized in various places of Dudu Basantgarh in the coming days for which the youth should keep themselves prepared and play a key role in spread of spirit of sportsmanship all across the Sub Division.
