Second batch of the Students of JK Public School Visit Krishi Bhawan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 25-Second batch of students of J K Public School, Jammu visited Directorate of Agriculture Jammu to have firsthand knowledge and practical demonstration of agriculture and its allied activities. This is as per the new initiatives taken up by the Department of Agriculture under the direction of Director Agriculture Jammu, Mr Ajay Khajuria to acquaint the young generation and students with agricultural activities and to attract them to adopt it as a profession.
The students first visited the Mushroom section and saw the practical demonstration of compost making for button mushroom cultivation and also saw the live flushes of Milky Mushroom which has been recently introduced in Jammu Div. by the department. They also visited the spawn production unit and witnessed the process of spawn production. Their visit was coordinated by Mushroom Development Officer Mr R L Bangotra. The students visited Apiculture section and viewed the bee colonies wherein the bees in working condition were shown. Various tools and implements such as Honey Extractor, Bee Veil, Hive tool, CF Sheets, Smoker etc. were exhibited for the students. Apiculture Development Assistant Mr Sarvarkar Anand coordinated. After that the students visited the Floriculture Nursery of the department and saw the different flowers, ornamental plants, Bonsai and machinery and equipments used for their maintenance. Floriculture Dev. Assistant Sh Ashwani Kumar coordinated the visit. Lastly the students visited vermicompost unit of the department and saw the worms converting the organic matter into vermicompost. The staff and the students thanked all the officers of the department for arranging such a knowledgeable visit
