DDC Jammu tours Pargawal area, inspects ongoing works

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 25: District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, today conducted an extensive tour of Pargwal area and its adjoining villages here yesterday, to take stock of the development activities, being carried out in these areas and various programmes, being implemented by the departments.
District Development Commissioner was accompanied by officers of different departments including Rural Development, PHE, R&B, Power, PMGSY, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbadary, etc.
During the visit, the DDC physically inspected the works of Rural Development Department, being executed by Block Agency, in the area under Cluster Approach of Border Area Development programme for development of Pargwal as "Model Village" by way of providing all modern facilities like Rural Information Centre, Multi Purpose centre, Community Centre, Marketting Complex, Road Connectivity, Play field, etc.
During the physical inspection of works, DDC gave on spot instructions to the ACD/BDO to maintain quality standards as prescribed in the guidelines of the programme and ensure execution and completion within stipulated time frame.
While ascertaining the progress of other components of the Model Village project, the DDC instructed the ACD to get a suitable piece of land identified for construction of Community Centre, RIC, Marketing Complex, etc at the centrally located place of the Model Village so that benefit of the these facilities would be accessible to people of the area.
The DDC also inspected Pargwal Road, constructed under PMGSY, and enquired about the quality tests conducted during its execution.
He also inspected the Health Sub Centre constructed at Pargawal by the Rural Development Department under BADP and directed that the building be handed to the Chief Medical Officer, Jammu. He directed that signboard, indicating name of the work, its cost, expenditure incurred and programme under which the building is constructed, be installed for information of the general public.
Mr Verma physically inspected the approach road to Lift Irrigation Scheme and irrigation Scheme near the border and asked the ACD to ensure plantation under MGNREGS in the area.
During interaction with the locals, DDC gave strict instruction to the officers of different departments that while executing works/schemes sanctioned in the area, transparency & accountability be given top priority and social audit of the expenditure be made mandatory as the Panchayati System is in existence, with the elected Panchs/Sarpanchs and create awareness among the masses about the programmes and schemes, being implemented in their areas.
He gave a patient hearing to the demand put forth by the public during public-officers interaction and assured that their genuine demands shall be considered for redressal at the earliest.
