Govt committed for comprehensive development of State: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 25-Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Mr Raman Bhalla, has said that the coalition government was committed to provide equal opportunities for progress to the people living in all the three regions of the state adding Government has accorded priority to the welfare of those belonging to economically weaker sections of the society. Interacting with the people at Apna Vihar in Kunjwani, Mr Bhalla said that UPA chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi and PM Dr Manmohan Singh have always evinced keen interest in making Jammu and Kashmir a model state for which the state was being liberally funded. He said several projects under PMGSY and ADB funded schemes are apace in the state adding that various schemes for tackling unemployment problem, including SKEWPY, have already been launched in the state, while thousands of rural people are benefited by the implementation of MGNREGA scheme. Mr Bhalla said that coalition Government was committed to the development of the remote, far-flung and neglected areas of the state. The Minister said an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in implementation of developmental schemes. He said coalition Government headed by Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, has introduced various reformative measures to extend better basic amenities to the people of the State, especially those living in rural and urban areas. Responding to the locals demands of Apna Vihar Extn., the Minister announced Rs. 4 lakh for construction of lane and drain in the area. He asked the executing agency to complete the project within stipulated time frame. He said the Government is fully aware of people’s problems and is making all out efforts to provide all basic amenities to them like safe drinking water, electricity, hospitals, schools, colleges, road connectivity besides better lanes and drains. At Rampura, the construction work of lane was started in the presence of the Minister for which Government has earmarked Rs. 3 lakh. At Government High School, Jammu Cantt., the Minister inaugurated 16-day long Raju Memorial Cricket Tournament. The tournament has been organized by Burger Knights and Abrar C C.
