Farmers’ Sunday Mandi inaugurated at Channi Himmat | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 25:Farmers’ Sunday Market was inaugurated, today, at Channi Himmat in an impressive function organised by the Department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing. While inaugurating the Farmers’ Direct Mandi at Channi Himmat, SP South Rajeshwar Singh said that the city dwellers remain busy with their official/ business responsibilities, during weekdays, and tend to visit vegetable markets/ shops, on Sundays, to purchase sufficient stock of vegetables to meet coming week’s requirement. Since the Centralised Whole Sale Vegetable Market at Narwal remains closed on Sundays, they have no choice but to buy old stock of vegetables available at local vegetable shops. This common platform provided by the department, at Channi Himmat, shall benefit both the fruit/vegetable farmers as well as residents of Channi Himmat area. Jia Lal Sharma Director Horticulture Jammu informed that this project model has been launched, today, as per directions received from Sham Lal Sharma Minister for Horticulture and Mohd Javed Khan Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing Department. This project is made possible with the efforts and active participation of Parveen Gupta Ex Corporator Channi Himmat, Digvijay Gupta Chief Executive APMC Narwal, Anuj Verma Project Coordinator, Sunil Bakshi and Sardar Hardeep Singh the officers of the department.
