Release instalment of 7% DA before Diwali: NMC
9/25/2011 10:20:16 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 25:
President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed the Chief Minister to release the pending instalment of 7% DA due from July last in favour of its employees and pensioners well before Diwali festival in view of sharp increase of the prices of essential commodities and inflation as the same DA instalment have already been released by the Centre and other State Governments.
Addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally at Marh, Shastri pointed out that since there is already budget provision by the Finance Minister for the years 2011-2012, there should not be any hitch for the state Government in releasing the DA. The delayed in release of DA will not only puts burden on the Government exchequer to liquidate the arrears but also increase the difficulties of employees and pensioners, he added.
Shastri said that prices of all essential commodities have going up considerably; there was no justification on the part of the Govt. for withholding this installment for their employees and pensioners.
He has also urged Dr Singh to declare Jammu and Srinagar as B-1 cities of state. He said that giving B-1 status to both capital cities would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading infrastructures and modernizing civic amenities of these fast expanding cities. He said since cost of living also increased in Srinagar and Jammu, it will benefit salaried class with increasing HRA and CCA. He said for being given B-1 status both cities have required norms including population.
