| Inter-college Judo competitions of JU | | Akhil, Varuneshwar share third place in 56 kg | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 26: Akhil of GGM Science College and Varuneshwar Singh of Bhargva Degree College shared third place in 56 kg weight category on the opening day of the four-day inter-college (men and women) judo competitions, organised by Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus, here today.
The opening day witnessed bouts in preliminary rounds, followed by the fights for third place while the finals have been scheduled for tomorrow at the Gymnasium Hall of the JU.
In all, judokas from 100 affiliated colleges of the JU are competing for the top honours in men’s section. Today’s bouts were officiated by the penal of experts from the J&K State Sports Council.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau.
The Detailed Results (bouts for third place): Below 56 kg: Akhil Badkulia, GGM Science College and Varuneshwar Singh, Bhargva Degree College, joint third. 60 kg: Balbir Singh, Bhargva Degree College Samba and Naleem Singh, Government Degree College Akhnoor, joint 3rd. 66 kg: Makhan Lal, GDC Akhnoor and Akram Ali, Trikuta Degree College, joint 3rd. 73 kg: Sushant Samotra, PG Departments of JU and Navdeep Sharma, GDC Kathua, joint 3rd. 81 kg: Ranjit Singh, Trikuta Degree College, 3rd. 90 kg: Vishal Singh, GDC Kathua and Styajeet Singh, Trikuta Degree College, joint 3rd.
