Arrangements for Red Cross mela reviewed | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 26: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, who is also Chairman Regional Red Cross Society, today reviewed arrangements for 2-day Red Cross Mela, 2011 starting October 29. It was disclosed in the meeting that the Red Cross Mela, 2011 would be organized at Kala Kendra Jammu wherein various educational institutions, social organization and government department would install stalls for the attraction of the visitors. Divisional Commissioner informed that the objective of organizing this mela was to create awareness among the general masses about the activities of the Red Cross Society. He stressed for involving youth with the Red Cross movement to generate funds to enable the society to provide free services to destitute, orphans and needy people. Dr. Kotwal appealed the general public to participate in the Red Cross mela, 2011 in large number to make it a grand success. He further stated that to make the event more attractive government and private schools and other organizations would perform baby shows, magic shows, cultural items etc. Divisional Commissioner directed the police authorities to make adequate security arrangements in and around the venue by intensifying police patrolling under the supervision of senior police officer. Municipal authorities were asked to ensure cleanliness in and around the venue by deputing sufficient safai karamcharies. Traffic department was asked to ensure proper traffic movement to avoid traffic congestion near Kala Kendra. Chief Engineers of PHE and PDD were asked to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during the mela days.
