Leh official confirms Chinese incursion on August 25 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Leh/ Even as the Indian government and the armed forces shied away from responding to the Chinese incursions into Indian territory in Ladakh, the Leh administration has revealed the details of the latest incident to Headlines Today. Additional deputy commissioner of Leh, Tsering Morup, told Headlines Today that the Chinese incursion happened in Nyoma area of Ladakh after a helicopter full of troops flew into the Indian side and landed in the area. The villagers have been upset with the government for its timidity in talking about the brazen incident. Headlines Today accessed details of a classified report by the Jammu and Kashmir government, which had noted that the helicopter-borne troops of China had flown into the Chumar area of Nyoma tehsil on August 25 and painted rocks with the red star insignia of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). A dozen troops also dismantled Indian bunkers and tents in the area and threw Chinese cigarette packets around to mark their presence. The Indian army and air force have made no specific comments on the incident so far. After the incident came to light, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel removed the tell-tale signs.
