Degree College Pampore to be made model Institution: Rather

SRINAGAR, Sept 26: Representatives of various social, religious and cultural organizations of saffron town Pampore today called on the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather.
On behalf of the people of Pampore, they extended their thanks to the government especially Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Rather for their personal interest in getting Degree College for Pampore sanctioned. They said this is one of the major steps in realizing the cherished dream and desire of the Sheri-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah to develop Pampore as a model town.
Rather while expressing government’s commitment to provide equal opportunities of development and justice to the people of the State irrespective of region, religion or political affiliations, said that the demand for a Degree college at Pampore was justified and over due as there are about II higher secondary schools in close proximity of the town including seven Hr. Secondary Schools existing in the town itself.
Rather assured the Deputationists that keeping in view Political, economic and historical importance of Pampore, Government would leave no stone unturned in making the Degree college, Pampore as one of the model colleges of the State adding that available land in the town shall be transferred to the Higher Education Department at the earliest for building requisite infrastructure for the College.
Among others, present on the occasion were Professor G.M.Bhat, Controller of Examinations, Jammu University, M.S.Shah, Former Chief Manager J&K Bank, Secretary General Idarah Auqaf Islamia Trust Pampore, Haji Mohammed Shafi Baba, Chairman Auqaf Islamia Pampore, Javaid Ahmed Qadri, Darulaloom representative, Haji Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh, Senior Citizen, Ali Mohammed Lone, Secretary Traders Association, Ghulam Mohammed Shah, Representative Private Schools, Dr. Ghulam Rasool, representative of Shopkeepers, Ghulam Nabi Wani, Senior Citizen etc.
