| GDC Udhampur faces Kathua to defend chess title | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 26: Defending champion, Government Degree College Udhampur shall lock horns against GDC Kathua in the ongoing inter-college men’s chess tournament, organised by Department of Sports and Physical Education at GGM Science College here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Udhampur College outplayed host GGM Science College 3-1. The Results: Sunil Kumar beat Samandeep Singh; Munish Sharma beat Ranjeet Singh; Ishan Singh beat S.K. Sharma; Kanav Sharma lost to Zaheem Mustafa.
In other semi-final of the day, GDC Kathua defeated last year’s runners-up, SPMR College of Commerce again 3-1 to qualify for the final. The Results: Nageshwar Jasrotia beat Ankush; Nitin Kad beat Simranpal Singh; Vivek Sharma beat Gurmeet Singh; Kirti Kumar Khajuria lost to Rohit of Commerce College.
Now, GDC Udhampur shall be playing against GDC Kathua to retain the title tomorrow at 10 am.
Meanwhile, according to the organizers, the final of women’s shall be played tomorrow at the same time and venue. Earlier, the final which was scheduled to take place today was postponed for tomorrow due to certain reasons.
