NPP member demands separate Assembly for Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Sep 27 : A National Panthers Party (NPP) member today demanded a separate assembly for Jammu where the members could discuss development and other issues related to the people. Balwant Singh Mankotia, who represents Udhampur constituency in the House, said that not a single question was taken up because the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wanted to score over each other.
Mr Mankotia was allowed to speak by speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone when the PDP members wanted a discussion on their adjournment motion on unmarked graves and killing during 2011 summer unrest in Kashmir.
"Let there be a special session for few days in which only the members from the NC and PDP participate to discuss the issues between two families, indirectly referring to Sheikh and Mufti families," the NPP member said.
He said, "We are representing people of our constituencies and want to discuss their issues in the House but if the situation will remain so, we cannot take up any issue." Mr Singh said it was decided that at least Question Hour will be allowed smoothly. But the House could not discuss a single question today, he said, adding "it is because of this that we want a separate assembly for Jammu." However, barring Independent Ashwani Kumar, Mr Singh was not supported by any other member from Jammu
