Guru resolution not admissible: Singh
9/27/2011 10:22:49 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Sept 27: National Panthers Party leader and MLA Harsh Dev Singh Tuesday said that clemency resolution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, moved by an independent MLA, wasn’t admissible according to the rules.
“Unnecessary hype has been given to an illegal and technically deficient resolution which has created a lot of uncertainty and confusion. On mere allegations and hearsays you can’t move a resolution in the Assembly. The resolution doesn’t fulfill the rules and there are number of lacunae in it,” Singh told reporters outside the House.
He said that his party will oppose the resolution tooth and nail when it comes for discussion on Wednesday. “Supreme Court has given its verdict on Guru’s crime. And according to the language of the resolution, it is still alleged crime. We have already raised these objections before the Speaker,” he added.
