Home guards, civil defence raising day celebrated

The week long celebration of Raising Day of Home guards/ civil defence concluded today with the Raising Day parade held at Jammu.. IGP Home guards, Navin Aggarwal formally welcomed the chief guest, DGP Prisons M.K. Mohanty, and the march past and general salute was presented by the civil Defence/Homeguards and Auxiliary Police contingents. Later IGP Aggarwal, gave a brief account of civil defence and Home guards activities of the year and also said that in the week long celebration various events like seminar, civil defence rally, chief warden conferences and sports events were organized in which besides the Auxiliary Police jawans Home guards/civil defence volunteers also participated in large number, he added. He also projected the various demands of voluntary Home guards relating to the enhancement in their honorarium and employment.
DGP Prisons, Mohanty, in his address lauded the role Home guards and civil defence volunteers during various disasters and said that the activities of Home guards and civil defence are full of sentiments of public service and humanitarian feelings. He also expressed his happiness over the drill, discipline, turnout and performance of duty by the home guards/civil defence jawans and also congratulated all the ranks and file of Home guards/civil defence on its Raising Day. Later the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of various events .Vote of Thanks were presented by Commandant, Aux Police, T. Phunsog. Later in the evening a colourful cultural Bonanza was presented where all ranks and other officers besides prominent citizens were invited to witness the cultural programme. Bada Khana was also served on the occasion.
Prominent among those present were DGP, J&K Police Gopal Sharma, Former DG Homeguards, A.C. Chaturvedi, ADGP CID, Kuldeep Khuda, Commissioner Vigilance, Ashok Bhan, IGP Jammu, S.P. Vaid, IGP Armed Sheikh Owaiss Ahmed, DIG BSF Kulbushan Singh, DIG Armed Gulzar Singh Salathia, SSP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, SSP Vigilance Vijay Singh Samyal, Chief warden, Jugal Mahajan, Dy. SP. Civil defence Manjeet Kour, Division warden and corporator Bansi Lal Gupta, Kanta Bhan, J.L.Sharma, Shashi Kohli, Lalita Sharma, and many others.
