| 4-day hockey tournament commences at Poonch | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, Sep 27:The 4-day divisional level inter-district hockey tournament, organised by District Youth Services and Sports Department, Poonch, commenced here today. The participating teams would be under 14, 17 and 19 years age.
District Development Commissioner, Poonch and Ajeet Kumar Sahu, who was chief guest on the occasion declared the tournament open.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahu lauded the efforts of DYSS authorities for hosting and sponsoring this event. He said that district Poonch has produced many renowned players in different sports and efforts are afoot to promote and encourage budding sportsmen of the district.
Responding to the people’s demand, the DDC said that district administration is actively working for construction of a youth hostel at district headquarter which were provide accommodation to sports persons lover who hail from far off destinations and take part in sports activities in this border district. Additional SP, District Youth Services Sports Officers, Superintendent G&B Hostel, Sports Officers, prominent citizens, district administration and players participated in the event. Opening of first hockey match was played between under 19 girls of Poonch district and Jammu girls teams. The girls of Poonch district scored 10 goals against one goal and won the match by Jammu team by 9 goals.
