| Misleading advertisements | | Legal Metrology fined Hindustan Uniliver Rs 1.5 lakh | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 27:-Continuing its drive to protect consumers from misleading advertisements which try to hoodwink consumers and lure them with the reduced MRP on the packages which are shown in various National Electronic Channels, Inspector Legal Metrology Pooja Kumari took note of such advertisements by M/s Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Mumbai and served 3 notices to the Managing Director for showing the reduced MRP on Brook Bond tea, Dove Soap and Rin detergent but without mentioning the reduced Net Contents of the packages which is mandatory as per the existing provisions of Weights and Measures Laws .
Accordingly the company through Legal Counsels pleaded of being guilty, rectified the advertisements and assured to strictly implement the provisions in future. A penalty of Rs 1.5 lakh imposed and recovered from the defaulters as composition.
