Director SKIMS clarifies | But some questions remain unanswered | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 27: Director Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Showkat Ahmad Zarger has responded to the Early Times story Director SKIMS takes CM, CS for a ride dated September 14. As expected, Zarger has strongly contested the story. Early Times believes in fair journalism and does not condemn anybody unheard. The ET correspondent tried his best to contact him before filing the said story. However, he was not available. The Joint Director was contacted. He was apprised of the contents of the story. He did not deny the facts but advised the scribe to file an RTI petition to unveil the truth. Notwithstanding the Director's denial, a few questions remain unanswered. Why have the minutes of the meeting of the Governing Body not being circulated amongst the faculty even now? The meeting for the information of the Director was held on July 21. Normally, the minutes are circulated immediately after Chief Minister and Chief Secretary returns them to the Director. Does the Director know that the Chief Minister's Grievance Cell and the Chief Secretary's offices are flooded by complaints against him? Why did the SKIMS employees raise slogans against him last week? They chanted `Remove Zarger, save SKIMS'? The Director has been accused of misusing his PSOs. The scuffle with a minister is enough proof of this. And last but not the least, Zarger better watch out against possible resignation of a renowned oncologist of the Institute. The oncologist, reports said, has been forced by Zarger's `machinations' to submit his resignation. ET does not focus on drawbacks alone. Zarger has won a bit of appreciation as well. The patients are all praise for him for running the outdoor facility throughout the week. Earlier this facility was available for two to three days only. |
