Kupwara gun battle | Body of Lt Khajuria to reach Samba today | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 28:-The body of the martyr Lieutenant Sushil Khajuria will reach at his native village at Samba for last rites tomorrow. The body is expected to reach at Jammu airport at about 11 am from Srinagar, an army spokesperson giving information said. He said that the last rites of Sushil will be performed tomorrow with full honour at his native village at Sangawali. Sushil Khajuria (26) son of retired Subedar Som Dutt Khjuria, an army service corps attached with 18 Grenadiers, attained martyrdom when a bullet pierced his chest in the encounter that took place on September 26 in the forest area of Kupwara. Along with him two Special Police Officers of Jammu and Kashmir police also attained martyrdom. The encounter started when on information regarding presence of terrorists in Miliyal forests in Trehgam area of Kupwara sector, a joint operation led by the Army was launched at 1:30 pm on September 26. The area is mountainous, densely forested, with no habitation and steep cliffs, the army officer said. The contact with terrorists hiding in caves in the cliffs which provide excellent cover for them, was established, he maintained adding in the ensuing encounter, five terrorists were killed. Lieutenant Khajuria died after killing two militants from a close range and was then attempting to retrieve the bodies of an injured policeman and a trooper, he said.
