| People block NH at Rajbagh against power cuts | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 28: Agitated over long power cuts and burning down of transformer in
the village, people of Mirpur in Rajbagh, Kathua, today blocked the national highway in
the area to vehicular traffic.
Mirpur was already faced with the problem of unscheduled and long power cuts. Two
days back the transformer that supplied electricity to the area also got burnt.
When despite repeated visits to PDD office, the electricity was not restored, they
gathered on the highway at Mirpur at about 2 pm and blocked it to vehicular traffic,
official sources said.
They dispersed peacefully after some time following an assurance from the authorities
concerned that electricity would be restored to Mirpur at the earliest.
