Judo bouts on wrestling mats
Hardly bothered about injury to the participants, the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education of the University of Jammu held inter-college judo competitions on wrestling mats. “Lacking grip and hard in stuff, the wrestling mats are never recommended for judo competitions. These mats are injury prone, especially in the game of judo where push and fall of a competitor is a must to win the bout. But, surprisingly, for the last many year, JU is continue to hold the inter-college judo competitions on wrestling mats,” a NIS qualified coach of the State Sports Council told SAN. The Department of Sports of JU which and also teaches physical education must not commit such a mistake, he added.
