| ASCOMS doctors conduct advanced cancer surgery operation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 28:-A team of doctors from department of Surgery ASCOMS conducted successful advanced Cancer Surgery operation in Jammu.
It was informed in a press conference here today that a team of plastic surgeons Dr. Suhael Zahoor and Oncosurgeon Dr Gurpreet Singh successfully removed a tumour from oral cavity in 45 year old male after a 7 hour long operation. The tumor was completely removed from the cheek and reconstruction of face was done by an advanced procedure called as free flap microvascular technique. This advanced surgery involves transplanting tissue from the forearm of the patient to the face by joining minute vessels under a microscope. The patient does not have any disfigurement after the Surgery.
The same team has been successfully performing such operations for the last six months. This is the only centre, in entire Jammu region performing such type of surgeries.
The principal ASCOMS Dr A Kumar and HoD Department of Surgery Dr S R Anand were also present and showered their blessings on the team and ensured full support and cooperation from department and hospital.
