Ch Bharat Bhushan passes away | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 28: A highly acclaimed, outstanding administrator of the state and former chairman of J&K public service commission, Choudhary Bharat Bhushan passed away at his Green Belt Park residence this afternoon after prolonged illness. He was 93. He is survived by his wife Kanta Choudhary, a son, two daughters, grandsons and grand-daughters. Born on November 26, 1918, in Jammu, he was known for his integrity, honesty and firmness as an able administrator. He had a brilliant academic career and stood first in F Sc in Punjab University in 1963. He also stood first in theJammu & Kashmir civil services competitive examination in 1940 during Maharaja's rule and was appointed tehsildar. He was among the first batch of state officers inducted into IAS and rose to the rank of additional chief secretary. After retirement, he was appointed in 1976 as member of PSC and its chairman in 1978. His last rites would be performed at Shastri Nagar cremation ground on Thursday at 4.30 pm. Meanwhile, public service commission held a condolence meeting at Srinagar and mourned the sad demise Ch Bharat Bhushan. Rich tributes were paid to the departed soul by chairman S L Bhat who recalled his contributions to PSC and other departments in which had served with distinction. A 2-minute silence was observed by the PSC members in the honour of the departed soul. |
