| Man rapes daughter's classmate at Bani | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 28: A man allegedly raped a minor girl, who studied with his daughter, at the far-flung Malad village in Bani area of Kathua.
Police sources said Usha Devi (14), daughter of Buri Chand of Malad, was returning home from the village school on September 21 last when her neighbour Charan Dass (39), son of Mansa Ram, blocked her way at a secluded place.
He dragged her to a nearby field where he allegedly raped her, the sources added.
Reaching home, Usha narrated the incident to her family. Sources said since her father had gone to meadows in Sarthal area to graze cattle, the family waited for him to return.
He reached home at Malad today. After discussing the matter with other family members, he brought his daughter to Malad police station in the afternoon and lodged a complaint against Charan Dass.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, police registered a case against the accused under section 376 of RPC. A raid was also conducted by cops at Charan's residence but he was found missing.
Sources said Usha and Charan's daughter were classmates. |
