| Distribution of solar lights in Gurez on favoritism: Wani | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Sep 29: PDP leader Abdul Aziz Wani has expressed his deep concern at the illegal practices adopted by the concerned officials in Gurez for distribution of solar lights to the locals.
In a press statement issued here, Abdul Aziz said that the distribution of the solar lights is strictly meant to under the supervision of SDM and Tehsildar himself. But due to the absence of both- as they are on leave, the concerned patwari and girdawar has issued the solar lights to their favourite one without any justification to the distribution process. He has cautioned the officials and appealed the higher one to look into the matter as it is an illegal activity and a serious crime of public distribution. He said if this is not stopped immediately then he would launch a protest against this. He said that most of the locals living in the area are poor and showing favouritism in distributing solar lights is sheer injustice to the people. Those who really deserve the lights are being marginalized and this should not be tolerated at any cost.
Abdul Aziz said that present MLA is also trying to subvert the sanctioned proposal for constructing a bridge in the area to some other place without any justification. He said due to some personal rivalry with the locals the MLA is considering doing this. It is a senseless and illegal intention and we are not going to allow it at any cost. He said that the bridge could be a great relief for the connectivity and access to different places for the locals but if not allowed to be constructed in the same place the locals may face the same problems.
