Top political leaders insincere in eradicating corruption: AJKMPJ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 29:All J&K Movement For Peace & Justice has appealed the print media that they should encourage those who bring before them the public grievances by dedicating a column of their esteemed papers boldly even if true weakness of some heavy weights are brought before them. Yesterday’s happenings in the assembly and Chief Minister’s speech out side assembly that clemency to Afzal Guru must be granted otherwise his death punishment will give a new boost to militancy are nothing but a dodging trick to divert the attention of everyone from the basic problem of corruption. Even a layman knows that when the case for clemency is in the office of the president, assembly has no role to interfere with the discretion of the President and that of the Supreme Court. The proper subject to be discussed and debated in the assembly are the grievances of the people e.g high level & low level corruption, problems of roads, drinking water and electrification, un-employment, mis-governance and so on. Ignoring these and wasting the precious time of the assembly on Afzal Guru is being deliberately done for two purposes; one is the vain attempt of political parties to strengthen their vote banks and the other is to divert the attention of the public from other basic issues. Let the leaders desist from it in future. Today’s public is wise enough to understand this game and instead of gaining public sympathies, it will create hatred & distrust for such leaders & public representatives. The members of All J&K Movement For Peace & Justice also termed Rahul Gandhi’s speech at Rajouri as a paradox. On one hand he frankly admitted that the Centrally Sponsored Schemes benefits do not reach the people due to corruption, he stressed the demand that 73rd & 74th amendments must be implemented to empower the panchayats and the Urban Local Bodies and exhorted the youth to take the membership of Congress and to go to rural areas ( grass root level) to end corruption. On the other hand he opposed Jan Lok Pal Bill knowing well that unless every government functionary and all MPs and MLAs are brought under its ambit, corruption cannot come to an end.
