EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Sept 29: Reacting strongly to the revelation of details about rape victims furnished by the government CPI (M) State secretary and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami has termed the government move as “secondary victimization” of rape victims.
In a statement issued here today, Tarigami has asked the government to apologize to all the rape victims in the house. “It is not only dissolute and unethical but it means the government has ruined their left over dignity and honour in the society. Simply, the government has ruined their life,” Tarigami has said.
He has added that the government by disclosing the names of rape victims has degraded the honour and sanctity of the house but has also acted in contempt of Supreme Court which has categorically banned disclosure of names of rape victims even after their death.
