Tourists face tough time in valley, blame airport officials | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sep 29: Tourists keep identity card with you or face problems in Jammu and Kashmir! This was the experience of two siblings visiting the Valley. Ritesh Malik and his sister Deepa, residents of Orissa and at present based in New Delhi had come to the Valley on a two-week tour. To their shock, Indigo airlines at the Srinagar airport refused to allot them boarding cards as they did not carry their identity cards at that time. Ritesh said, "We were a group of four people (one ticket). Two of us were carrying identity cards. We have informed the airlines that they stood as guarantor for us since we all were in the same group.'' In turn, the airlines incharge said,'' until you show us the I-card we cannot issue you a boarding card. The lady officer of the airlines was not ready to listen anything. We were at loss to understand what to do." He said that then a Kashmiri youth working as copy editor in a media organisation came for their help and stood as guarantor saying if anything will happen, he will be responsible. But this offer too was rejected by airline officials, who refused to accept anything, he lamented. Ritesh said they had come from Delhi by road to see Jammu and Srinagar. He criticized the behavior of the airlines and local airport authorities for the inconvenience caused to the tourists.
