Inter-district boys’ U-19 Kho-Kho tourney begins
Kishtwar, Samba, Udhampur set to reach semis

JAMMU, Sept 29: Leading with two wins each in the league round, Udhampur, Samba and Kishtwar districts looked confident to move into the next round of semi-finals in the three-day inter-district divisional level under-19 boys’ kho-kho tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Youth Hostel Nagrota grounds, here today.
In the first round of league matches played today among nine participating districts, Kishtwar, Samba and Udhampur were leading with two wins each. In all, eight matches played in the league round in two different groups.
Host Jammu district and Poonch as also district Kathua and Ramban failed to make their presence felt and lost their matches today. However, district still have the chance of making it to the semifinals with one win and one loss in two outings.
Except for Reasi district, all nine districts of Jammu division are participating in this annual competition.
The Detailed Results: (League Round): Kishtwar bt Doda by one turn and five points; Samba bt Poonch 15-01; Rajouri bt Ramban 12-03; Kishtwar bt Kathua by one turn and six points; Udhampur bt Jammu by one turn and three points; Doda bt Poonch 13-07; Samba bt Kathua by one turn and five points; Udhampur bt Ramban by one turn and six points.
Today’s matches were officiated by penal of experts from the host department including, Rajesh Kakkar, Rajesh Sambyal, Kulbir Singh, Balwan Singh, Pritam Chand and Narayan Singh.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Deputy Director DYSS, S S Bali. He interacted with the boys from participating districts and wished them success.
