| Cong leader elected panch in bypoll | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 29: In the panchayat byelections held today in a ward of Swankha in
Vijaypur, Congress leader Tirath Ram Bhagat defeated NC leader Ram Pal.
Out of a total of 186 votes, 142 were cast. One vote was declared invalid. While
Bhagat got 90 votes, Pal got 41 votes, according to Vijaypur SDM Noor Alam.
The seat was vacated after Bhagat's wife, who was elected from two places in the
recently concluded panchayat elections, resigned from the Swankha ward.
Bhagat's wife too had won after defeating Pal.
