| DB directs VO to complete investigation in | | Cooperative bungling within four weeks | | Jammu, Dec 6 The Division Bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court today directed the Vigilance Commissioner to take necessary steps and have the investigation in the alleged bungling in Cooperative institutions completed within four weeks from the receipt of this order and submit a report. This direction was passed by the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mr B A Khan and Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain in a PIL filed by People’s Action and Public Accountability seeking handing over the investigation to CBI in alleged bungling of crores of rupees in the Cooperative Institutions. The Bench observed that the case had already been ordered to be investigated by the Vigilance organization and the investigation, according to the status report of the organization, is half way through and directed the VO to have the investigation completed within four weeks from receipt of this order and to submit a report. On the alleged threat faced by the President and Secretary of the NGO PAPA, Deep Singh is required to approach the SSP Jammu, who, on hearing him, shall assess the threat perception and take suitable steps to provide the needed protection, if any, within two dates from his approaching him. It is worthwhile to mention here the PAPA filed this PIL leveling serious allegations of bungling of crores of rupees in the cooperative institutions like Housing Cooperative, Citizen Cooperative Bank, JAKFED etc. DB had earlier issued direction to the Vigilance Organization for investigation of the allegations leveled against the cooperative institutions.
