Colourful cultural procession marks second day of navratra fest

KATRA, SEPT,30:- As a part of on-going Navratra Festival being organized by Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board and Department of Tourism in collaboration with District Administration and local organizations at Katra, a scintillating cultural procession depicting rich culture of the state and other parts of the country was taken out from Asia Crossing, where Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Mr. P.K Pole, who was the chief guest on the 2nd Navratra, lit the sacred Joyti before the start of impressive procession.
The impressive Shoba Yatra- cum- cultural procession was taken out from the Asia Crossing which after passing through the main bazaars and other locations of the Katra town culminated at GHSS, Katra. Various Jhankies like traditional Kud by Khem Raj & Party, Itarsi Band, Bal Devta’s roop and various scenes from Ramayana and Mahabharata mesmerized the large number of devotees and huge crowd present on the occasion.
Among others Additional SP, Katra, Mr. Mohan Lal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Reasi, Mr. Samyal, Deputy Director Tourism, Jammu, Mr. Arvind Kotwal, officers of different departments, Members of the festival committee, large number of yatris and local people were present on the occasion.
Several Cultural programmes by the Songs & Drama Division at Government Higher Secondary School, Katra, All India Devotional Song Competition at Shri Yog Ashram, Religious discourses at Regunath Mandir, free langer by Seva Bharti and Exhibition stalls by various departments were other main highlights of the Navratra Festival.
To make the people aware about the ill effects of environmental pollution, a mass rally comprising over 1300 students of different schools of Katra and adjoining areas participated.
The Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, who was the chief guest on the occasion, flagged off the rally from Govt. Higher Secondary School, Katra on the third day of the festival. The rally after passing through main locations of the holy town, finally culminated at GHSS, Katra.
