School teachers imparted disaster preparedness training at DIET Srinagar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Sep 30:Three days disaster preparedness training for Head Teachers of Schools of District Srinagar commenced here today at District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) Bemina. The inaugural function was attended by Joint Director, Fire Services Kashmir, RT Dubey, Regional Red Cross Society, Abdul Jabbar Chakkat, HoD Planning, DIET, Mohammed Rafiq Chapu, Head Disaster Management & Dy Chief Warden, Civil Defence, Aamir Ali and Programme Coordinator Mir Shabir and Mehrajuddin. The training programme has been organised by Principal DIET Srinagar, Syed Aijaz Qalander in collaboration with Divisional Administration, Civil Defence, Red Cross and Fire & Emergency Services. Fifty Head-teachers, mostly females, from eight education zones of Srinagar district are attending the training programme. On the first day, the participants were made aware of the vulnerability of the State to various disasters and advised how to keep the schools safe. The participants were also taught basics of first-aid by Dr. I.P.S. Bali, First aid expert from Red Cross Society. The teachers got conducted Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on rubberised dummy. The teachers’ evinced keen interest in the training and actively participated in mock drills. On the second day the trainees will be taught by Divisional Fire Officer Srinagar, Abdul Hameed the proper use of fire extinguishers and procedure to put out small fires. On Monday, Civil Defence expert trainer Abdul Gaffar will conduct a mock drill and a valedictory fuction will be held which will be attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Abdul Majid Mir and Addl DG Police Civil Defence, Home Guards & Auxiliary Police J&K, Dr. Ram Lubhayya.
