75000 visitors visited Shalimar Bagh this year: Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 30:The water supply to the fountains in the gardens has not been discontinued and most of the fountains are working properly except for a few, which are not functioning presently. This was stated by the Minister for Floriculture, Sham Lal in reply to a question raised by M.Y. Taing in the Legislative Council. He said few of the fountains, which are not functioning, are not being restored immediately as that would necessitate discontinuation of the water supply to the pavilion (Baradari) and its channel, which cannot be done at this time, because of the tourists visiting the garden in a large numbers. He said that during 2011-12, 75,000 visitors have visited this garden so far. He also said that the reservoir of the pavilion is full of water. The Minister said that the path leading to the garden pavilion has not been closed. However, for carrying out of the cleaning of the Baradari, it is closed for a few hours on weekly basis to facilitate the cleaning process. He said the restoration of the prominent features of this heritage garden is a continuous process.
