LC Passes amendment Bill, rejects 5

SRINAGAR, Sep 30:The J&K State Legislative Council today unanimously passed a Private
Members Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Societies Registration Act
Svt 1998, the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act 1989 and the
Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Permanent Resident Certificate (Procedure)
Act 1963 (LC Private Members Bill No 7 of 2011).
The Bill was passed along with an amendment moved by Mr. Murtaza Ahmad Khan.
The main objective of the amendment to PRC Act its implementation more
stringent and effective.
The Government also allowed introduction of another Private Members
Bill “To amend the Jammu and Kashmir Prevention and Suppression of
Sobotages Act 1965 (LC Private Members Bills No 10 of 2011,” moved by
Naresh Kumar Gupta).
In addition, as many as five more Bills came up for discussion in the
Legislative Council today, which were, however, rejected.
These included a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Raj
Act, 1989 (Act NO. IX of 1989) L.C. Private Members Bill No 13 of 2011
introduced by Mr. Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, a bill to amend the Jammu and
Kashmir Right to Information Act 2009 (Act No VIII of 2009) (L.C
private Members bill No. 15 of 2011, introduced by Naresh Kumar
Gupta, a Bill to provide for Guranted Employment to skilled and
semi-skilled workers of the State in industrial sector and for matters
connected therewith or incidental thereto (L.C Private Members’ Bill
No 14 of 2011).
A Bill to provide for the constitution of the Jammu and Kashmir
Nursing Council for regularization of registration and training of
nursing personnel (Nurses and Multipurpose Health workers) and matters
connected thereto (L.C Private Members’ bill No. 8 of 2011, introduced
by Murtaza Ahmad Khan.
A Bill to provide for the registration of real estate agents and
developers and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto
(L.C Private Members’ bill No. 9 of 2011), introduced by Murtaza Ahmad
Khan.
A Bill to amend the Enemy Agents Ordinance, 2005 (1948 A.D) (L.C
Private Members’ bill No. 11 of 2011) introduced by Naresh Kumar
Gupta.
However, the Government while opposing these bills at the introductory
stage gave assurance to the concerned legislators of taking
appropriate action. After getting assurances from the Government,
these bills were later on withdrawn by the concerned members.
