Police-Public Mela on Oct 2: DGP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Sep 30:Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda today said that all arrangements for 19th Police-Public Mela, being held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar have been finalized and the Mela is now set to take off on October 2. Khoda said this while inspecting the venue to take stock of the arrangements made for the grand event. He was accompanied by Additional Director General of Police, Armed/L&O, K. Rajendra Kumar and other members of the Organizing Committee of the Mela. Rajendra apprised the DGP that the stall holders from across the State have reached to the venue along with their goods and are establishing their stalls at the identified spaces. He also informed that security and traffic arrangements have been finalized and sufficient man power is being deployed to ensure security and smooth traffic movement on the Mela Day. Parking slots have been identified to accommodate the vehicles of the visitors. Khoda said that police-public melas also provide opportunities to the common public to purchase various items representing different regions of the State under one roof on reasonable rates. He said that the melas also strengthens the police public relations which are useful for better policing. The DGP discussed the arrangements made for the inaugural ceremony of the event at 10 a.m. and conduct of raffle draw for the fabulous prizes which will be held at 4 p. m. in presence of public. It was decided that to make the draw in a transparent manner, small children from the gathering would be drawn to pick up the lucky tokens. It was informed that total prizes in the mega event would be more than 5600 which include 10 Cars, 5 motor cycles, 5 laptops, 5 LCD TVs, 5 ACs, 5 washing machines, 5 microwave ovens, attractive cash prizes and cultural items.
