| Army foils infiltration bid, one militant killed | | |

Army today claimed to have killed one ultra when a group of five militants tried to cross over to this side of Line of actual Control in Balakot area of Poonch, this morning.
Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that infiltration bid was foiled when Army personnel of 13 Sikh regiment warned a group of five militants who were trying to sneak into this side at Pingni Nallah of Balakot in Mendhar. However, instead of surrendering before the Army, militants opened fire on personnel, resulting in fierce gun battle in which one of the militant was killed. Four militants however managed to escape back towards the other side.
The identity of the slain militant could not be established. Army recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the possession of slain militant including one AK47, 1 Pistol three AK magazines, 73 AK rounds, seven revolvers, one radio set along with high frequency antenna. |
