PoK migrants delegation meets interlocutors on J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT New Delhi, Sep 30:A common forum of Indian migrant communities of Pakistan occupied Kashmir, who are scattered in various parts of India outside Jammu & Kashmir, have urged the team of Interlocutors on J&K to acknowledge their section of POK citizens as an important and independent stakeholder in the ongoing unrest in the State. In a memorandum, presented to the team of Interlocutors in their Vigyan Bhavan office here this week, a delegation of 'Forum of Migrant POK Communities in India' (FMPOKCI) has also urged the Government of India to establish a 'National Register of Indian POK Communities' in order to bring on record and underline the exact size of the community and the magnitude of their problems arising out of exile from POK. There are over two million migrants from POK in J&K and rest of India. The delegation, comprising of representatives of POK Biradaries (communities) from Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Bhimbar, Kotli, Dev Batala and various rural areas of POK, was headed by Mr. Vijay Kranti, a senior journalist belonging to POK and Dr. Sudesh Ratan Mahajan, President of Mirpur Balidan Samity. These communities were exposed to the worst ever holocaust of India-Pakistan partition related violence which claimed over 50,000 (fifty thousand) lives of Indian citizens at the hands of marauding Pakistani Police and their fellow tribal raiders in the fateful last week of November in 1947.
