Where is BJP's 'collision' course against govt?
2 MLAs 'choose' to attend national executive meet
10/1/2011 12:55:06 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: Two days ahead of the commencement of Assembly session , senior BJP leader and Legislator Ashok Khajuria 'avowed' that party MLAs would take on the coalition government on a host of issues in an 'unprecedented manner' and expose them by raising voice in the House. But contrary to the 'zeal' and enthusiasm expressed earlier, the House has yet to witness 'unprecented' clamour and noise only matters related to people and their problems.
Four days on, the Assembly barring pandemonium witnessed on the day Afzal guru resolution was scheduled, there has been no harsh criticism nor any matter has been taken up forcefully by the members in the House. The two senior members Ashok Khajuria and Jugal Kishore , who actually happen to be ones representing party out of 4 at present, did not attend the House today. According to sources, they could not attend the session as they flew in to Delhi to attend party's national executive meeting which began today.
Of the two members one happens to be Chief Whip and other leader of the House as declared by the party leadership after suspension of the 7 members . Though the Speaker Mohammad Akbar lone has declared status quo implying that Prof Chaman Lal Gupta continues to be leader , the matter being sub judice, neither this group of four nor the party has contested so far its claim as far as the leader in the House is concerned.
One wonders, amid such situation why the two legislators of the party chose to attend national executive of the party , of which they certainly are members, than to attend the current session, which is crucial in many ways. Have they virtually surrendered or reconciled to the fact that 'real face' of BJP continues to be group led by Prof Chaman Lal Gupta …? Have they left the matters to be raked up and countered by the MLAs whose suspension is yet to be revoked by the party….? Or have they chosen not to affront the NC led coalition government during the session, which has now few days left to conclude…?
