Bhaderwah triple murder case | Bhushan seeks constitution of SIT | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 30: Renowned lawyer Prashant Bhushan sought constitution of a Special Investigating team (SIT) in the Bhaderwah triple murder case today. Arguing the case in a jam packed court room, Bhushan said High Court has the power to constitute a SIT in cases where it seems justice has not been done. "Or, the honourable court may entrust reinvestigation if the case to the CBI", he argued. However, the case had to be adjourned as the Advocate General, who was put on notice by the court did not turn up. Additional Advocate general said the office of the Advocate general had not been informed. The court adjourned the case till October 11. Bhushan later addresses a press conference. He said: "This is a grave violation. The bodies have not been handed over to the relatives. They may be buried in an unmarked grave", he said. The petitioners Nazira Begum, aged 45 years, Widow of Fazal Hussain Dar and Shaheena Begum, aged 45 years, Widow of Muhammad Hussain Lone both residents of Malni, Tehsil Bhaderwah, District Doda are represented by renowned human rights activist and noted lawyer Parvez Imroz. While the main accused happens to be Muhammad Ashraf s/o Gulab Shah of Pranu, Doda, the Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda also figures in the list of he accused. According to the petitioner, the deceased Fareed Hussain Dar along with two other persons Mohammad Hussain Lone and Talib Hussain were abducted January 3, 1996 by Muhammad Ashraf and his men. Later they were found dead. Ashraf was arrested but the trial court acquitted them. The petitioners approached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The case was reinvestigated by the Crime Branch. The crime branch has indicted DGP Khuda the then DIG Udhampur/Doda range in the case. |
