Cricket team from South Africa plays with Kashmiri team, Kashmiri team defeat South Africa
3- day cricket tourney begins at DPS Renzushah, Farooq Shah, South African cricket lovers attended 3-day cricket championship at DPS, Srinagar

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 01: A three day T-20 cricket championship 2011 begins at DPS today. The championship was jointly inaugurated by Director Information Kh Renzushah and Director Tourism, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah.
The championship was first of its kind organized by Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Ratta, Manntana tours and travels in valley. There will be six matches within four teams including two teams Al-Aqsa school Johannesburg and Berea west senior primary school Durbin from South Africa.
The opening match was played between Berea west senior primary school with DPS Srinagar in the premises of DPS Srinagar, where the DPS won the match by 77 runs.
The second match was played between Alaqsa school Johannesburg and Green valley school at Kashmir University, where Green Valley won by 103 runs.
Speaking on the occasion Kh. Renzushah and Mr. Farooq Shah appreciated the efforts of the organizers for holding this event in the valley, they said that there are large number of cricket lovers in valley and the effort will go a long way in motivating more boys and girls in cricket.
The Directors favored that more such events should be organized in the valley which would also fetch a large number tourists in the State. He said valley is quite suitable place for holding all season matches.
They highlighted the significance of the sports to channelizing the energy of younger generation in a positive direction. They said the sports not only keep physically fit to the players but also inculcate sense of responsibility, discipline and provide opportunities to sports persons to visit various states and countries to study different cultures and strengthen the ties with their countries.
They stressed the need for promoting the sports in a big way in valley so that more and more youth could be involved in the activities. They said that there in not dearth of talent in the valley particularly in theshaher-i-khas and efforts should be made to exploit the hidden potential. They said winning of the match by Kashmir team and defeat South Africa team proves that there is extra-ordinary mettle in our state. They said if our children are trained well they have capacity and capability to prove their mettle.
