Samba boys emerge new U-19 kho-kho champion | Caption: Deputy Director (Central) of DYSS gives away winners trophy to Samba district at Youth Hostel Nagrota in Jammu on Saturday. | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 01: Giving their best performance district Samba today emerged as winner of the inter-district divisional level boys’ under-19 football tournament which was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Youth Hostel Nagrota, near here. In the final, played this afternoon, Samba trounced district Udhampur by a margin of seven points with final score on board being 09-02. With today’s emphatic win there was celebration in the Samba camp. The side was overjoyed and jubilant on receiving the title. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played in the morning session, Samba outplayed host Jammu district by a big margin of eight points. The final score on board was 10-08. In other semifinal, Udhampur defeated Kishtwar district by a wafer thin margin of a point 07-06. Today’s matches were officiated by a penal of experts including Rakesh Kakkar, Rajesh Sambyal, Gulbir Singh, Pritam Chand, Narayan Singh, Rattan Lal and Anju Rani. In the final and valedictory function, Deputy Director (Central) DYSS, Ashok Kumar was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also medals. Speaking to the participants, he appreciated the feat of Samba district and Udhampur boys for making it to the final. He expects others from Poonch, Kishtwar and Jammu to improve their performance.
