3-nation wrestling event at Katra today | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 01: The first-ever international event in Indian Style Wrestling on the soil of Jammu and Kashmir—7th Mission-Disti International Indian Style Dangal—shall be played at Vivekanand Stadium, Katra under the banner of Indian Style Wrestling Association of Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow. Earlier, held between two nation of India and Pakistan, the event this time will have third nation, England, as third participant. Two wrestlers from the England have arrived in the state to contest for the top honours. However, the main bout, the contest for Rs one lakh prize money, shall take place between celebrity Indian wrestler, Joginder Kumar and Rustam-e-Pakistan, Zaman Anwar in 120 kg weight category. This was disclosed by the Minister for Sports, R S Chib in a press conference held here today. He said, “It is a matter of great pleasure and honour that J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association has taken a positive initiative to organize Mission-Dosti International Dangal, involving third nation (England) this time in the holy town of Katra. This time the Sports Departments of the state too have extended support for the mega event in addition to other agencies.” About eight wrestlers from neighbouring Pakistan and other 41 from different parts of country are taking part in the day-long event. “The Rs 10 lakh dangal will also be attended and witnessed by other national and international personalities of this indigenous game of wrestling. They included national chief coach, Sohan Singh, Dhronacharya awardee, Maha Singh, Arjuna awardee and Ashok Kumar. So, there is free entry for one and all to witness the international event which is part of the ongoing Navratra Festival in Katra,” informed president of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
