Classification of ‘poor’ by Planning Commission | Angry youth sends DD amounting Rs 26 to PM, FM | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Ramban, Oct 1:Annoyed with recent classification of the “poor” by the Planning Commission of India and submission of the affidavit in the apex court, a youth hailing from remote village Bhagote, Batote of Ramban district has sent a letter along with demand drafts of Rs 26 each for Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Union Finance Minister and Dy Chairman Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia. In the letter, the youth Darvinder Singh has asked the trio to spend a day with Rs 26 and let the other poor people of the country know that how do they do with this meagre amount. He has written “this is an insult to the crores of poor men of the country because at one end the inflation rates are so high and the essential commodities going out of reach of the ordinary man. On the contrary the planning commission making such illogical, unjustifiable and unrealistic claims that are far away from facts.” Angry Darvinder Singh has said that he rejects the Planning Commission’s argument and figure of Rs 32 in urban areas and Rs.26 in Village, his emotional letter further reads as “ I belong to a remote village of the Jammu and Kashmir State along with my family, every day I have to meet with the ground realities, and being a self witness and victim of price hike, I reject this”. Darvinder Singh has also invited PM, FM and Dy Chairman Planning Commission to come to his village and spend a day with the villagers.
