| Azad lauds defence forces, donates on flag day observance | | |

Armed Force Flag Day was observed today here also, as in other parts, to commemorate and honour brave forces men who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of nation.
The day also marks collection for the welfare fund of ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents. In this connection, retired officers of armed forces called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Lauding the services of brave soldiers and saluting veterans for admirable service to the nation, Mr. Azad specially referred to the great sacrifices of soldiers who have attained martyrdom for up-keeping the solidarity and integrity of the country and protecting it from internal and external foes, Chief Minister donated Rs. 21,000 towards Armed Forces Flag Day collection.
Those who called on Mr. Azad included Maj. Gen. (Retd.) G. S. Jamwal and Brig. (Retd) K. S. Kotwal.
Financial Commissioner Home Mr. B. R. Kundal and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Anil Goswami were also present on the occasion.
Ceremonial pinning of token flag w as also performed by the retired defence officers on the coat of Chief Minister. |
