Navratra fest: Religious, cultural confluence at Katra

KATRA, OCTOBER 01 - Katra town is buzzed with festivities during on going Navratra Festival being organized by Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board ,Tourism department in coordination with District Administration, Reasi and local associations of the town.
On the 3rd day of the Navratra Festival, Additional Chief Executive officer, Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Dr. M.K. Bhandari who was the chief guest on the occasion lit the traditional Jyoti at Asia Crossing Katra last evening.
The colourful procession being organised by Cultural Association, Katra which comprised of number of tableaus showcasing a glimpse of our rich culture and traditions after passing through main locations of the Katra town ,finally culminated at Higher Secondary School, Katra . Large number of pilgrims, prominent citizens, Navratra celebration committee members and senior officers participated in the procession.
At Government Higher Secondary School, Katra huge rush of audience were seen watching colourful cultural programme by Song and Dram Division, Government of India in the premises of the school.
The chief guest of the day, Dr. Bhandari lit the traditional lamp at the venue of the programame and appreciated the folk performances of artists of Song and Drama Division hailing from different parts of the country.
With a view to generate awareness among the masses about the different State and Centrally sponsored schemes, a departmental exhibition in the premises of Higher Secondary School, Katra is also attracting large crowd. In the exhibition different departments which mainly include Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, Tourism, Floriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture and Handicrafts have put up their stalls for the awareness of the people.
The students of different educational institutions also presented a colourful cultural programme in the premises Government Higher Secondary School, Katra today.
