GDC Hiranagar organises poster making contest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 1: Government GLDM Degree College Hiranagar in collaboration with Department of Life Long Learning, University of Jammu on Saturday organised an inter-collegiate poster making competition on “Global Warming”. 13 students from various colleges participated in the competition and showcased their talent with paint and brush. They presented a gruesome picture of the effects of Global warming. Superintendent of Police and Principal, Police Training Academy, Kathua A K Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. The students were adjudged by Dinesh Kumar, ITI Kathua, who is an international awards winner for his painting and Dinesh Sharma, vice-principal Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hiranagar. Poster making contest was followed by a lecture on Global warming by the Principal of the college Prof Nater Singh Raina. In his address he expressed concern about the rise in global temperature of the planet earth and its effects on organic and inorganic life. He regretted that enough was not being done at the national and international level to contain the effects of Global warming. Speaking on the occasion, A K Sharma exhorted the young students to save earth for the coming generation. “It is the youth only which can save earth from the impending effects of global warming,” he said. Later, a short-term course in communication skills was also inaugurated by the chief guest and the Principal of the college. The function concluded with prize distribution. Students were given momentous by the chief guest. The function was coordinated by Dr Deepshika Sharma from Department of Environmental Science while vote of thanks was presented by Prof Dayavilas Khajuria.
